Last year we focused on specific topics like AAC and Autism, but today we are going to begin a series on general SLP resources that are available online. Some of the sites we will be highlighting you may be familiar with, while others you may not, and then some of them you may have just forgotten about.
Today our focus is on the magnificent Cindy Meester. http://meesterc.wordpress.com/ Her blog is simply wonderful (I'm trying to break myself from saying awesome all the time, although her site is AWESOME.) She has been writing and sharing for a few years now and as a way of introduction let me share her first blogged words because they explain better than I could what Cindy is all about:
"10/09~Welcome! I started this site to share a variety of links I have found on the web. Hopefully these links will help students (along with their families) improve their speech and language skills. I also hope other speech language pathologists will find great ideas, materials and resources to use."
Since that day Cindy has diligently added to her offerings and now has a website that is a staple in most of our lives. Thanks Cindy! You ROCK!
When you go to her site you will immediately notice a list a mile long, on the right side of the screen. You can click on those for some very useful links and such. She has so much information to share that it has been cataloged for you. In fact, I'm so impressed with all you can find there, that I'm going to list it here:

These are great, thank you!!! I recently was moved to a middle school where my administrator is asking for formalized lesson plans. Do you by chance have a format that you have used in all your experience in the schools? I don't want to end up writing 30 lesson plans a day to personalize to each child as my groups are very mixed with various goals being addressed through a single activity. Any suggestions are very welcome!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI can not take credit for this, but did see this recently on the Yahoo group site Perkilou. I hope this helps.

I believe it is detailed enough to pacify the admin but yet generic enough to keep you from writing your little fingers off!!
Let me know if it helps.
Dean :)
Hi Leah and Dean! I recently found your blog and am really enjoying the resources you share. Cindy Meester is a friend of mine in Minnesota, we are both MN SLPs and bloggers. I would love it if you both would take a peek at my blog too. It is for educators and SLPs who support social/emotional skills for kids. There are several webpages with over 100 free PDF downloads, as well as a recently added blog section. The site is a wordpress blog at: http://jillkuzma.wordpress.com Thanks for your resources! I look forward to following you more!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jill! We will for sure look at your blog and share with everyone else :) We love to share with our fellow SLP's!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a resource!!! Thanks for sharing that!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your "awesome" comments. I'm still blushing. Jill's blog is great too. Her first blog was what got me started using Wordpress initially. Now we both our blogs have evolved. Thanks again!
